The Panzerkampfwagen VI B Tiger II, known as the Königstiger (King Tiger), was a German heavy tank deployed during World War II. Entering service in 1944, it was the successor to the Tiger I, combining powerful offensive and defensive capabilities. Its design incorporated an 88mm KwK 43 L/71 gun, capable of penetrating Allied armour at long distances, and exceptionally thick frontal armour, making it nearly impervious to many contemporary weapons. However, its substantial weight of nearly 70 tonnes caused significant mobility issues, with frequent mechanical breakdowns and logistical challenges. Only 489 units were produced due to resource constraints. Despite its fearsome reputation, the King Tiger's complexity and limited numbers meant it had minimal strategic impact on the war's outcome.
