HOW TO CHOOSE SIZE:
S, M, L, XL / 1, 2, 3 etc has no correlation to the size of your dog. Choose a size by measurements concentrating on Chest Girth. .
1)
First make sure your dog is standing and take aChestmeasurement & find a size in the chart below that allows for your measurement.
I.E If your measurementis 42cm, choose Size 3 (40-44cm)
Make sure you measure at their widest part of the body and add 2cm to your measurement for comfort.
2) Next take a Back measurement and confirm that it is similar to the length of the jacket to make sure the jacket doesn't hang to high or low over the tail. ( It is not uncommon for jackets not to cover the entire back due to the shape of certain breeds )
3) Take a Neck measurement and just confirm the size won't be too tight around the collar.

For guidance: Small Size 1 refer to Puppyâs up towards 5 + sizes are adult dogs (25lbs / 12Kg) up.
TIPS:
1) Always choose âChest/Bustâ measurement first to ensure correct fit. Choose one size up if measurement is close to measurement shown above.
2) The widest part of the chest is usually a few inches behind the front legs but itâs a good idea to take several measurements along the body to ensure you have the widest part.
3) If your dog has a thick coat/lots of hair, do not take measurement tightly against the body, measure loosely over fur.
4) With some breeds It is not uncommon for the coat not to cover all of the dogs back.
NOTE: Jackets with connected straps will never be as secure as a harness that goes under your dog. Depending on the size and weight of your dog, with continuous pulling or jolting the straps may wear or become loose. These jackets are not recommend if your dog is a heavy breed that pulls frequently or shows signs of reactivity while on a lead.

Answer: No, this is not how sizing works for pet garments. You should take measurements first and use the size chart to ensure correct fit. Chest measurement is the most important.
