About this product :

Chianti Classico - Red Italian Wine

Wine of Italy

Ruby red with intense dark berry aromas. Rounded, with blackberry flavours and smooth finish. Great with roasted red meats and casseroles.

Type of Closure: Synthetic Cork: Supreme

Current Vintage: NV
Producer: Schenk Italia
Grape Variety: Sangiovese
Winemaker: Edigio Finazzer
Agent: Buckingham Schenk
Vinification Details: The grapes are firstly crushed which allows the must to extract colour and tannin from the skins. Fermentation then occurs at temperatures between 22 - 25°, during which the skins are racked and returned to the liquid several times to extract flavour, structure and stability. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation, before being filtered and fined, and finally bottled.
History: The Chianti region is in Tuscany. All wines from this region must be made with a minimum of 80% Sangiovese, to protect the region's identity and quality. These wines are highly regarded across the world, and produces wines to rival the finest in the world.
Regional Information: The Chianti Classico subregion covers approximately 260 square KM, with 17,640 acres of vineyards. Chianti Classico are premium wines that tend to be medium-bodied with firm tannins. This is due to the type of soil the vines are grown on, the altitude at which they are and the varied climate.

Tasting Notes: Dark red fruit hits you on the nose, which is pleasantly complimented by floral and savoury notes on the palate.
