ready-coloured red sugarpaste can often be quite soft and sticky, so we wanted to offer our customers a red sugarpaste that handles and performs every bit as well as White Couture... it has taken 18 months, but we think we've cracked it!
creating Red Couture was not as simple as adding red colouring to White Couture - this is a brand that we've extensively tested at various temperatures and levels of humidity, and on many different types, shapes and sizes of cakes
Red Couture offers a rich red that will not leach colour nor easily fade - perfect for novelty cakes, sculptured cakes and, of course, red themed wedding & celebration cakes
the shade is impossible to show accurately on screen,
IMPORTANT - the intensity of colour meets all EU and UK regulations on PPM (Parts Per Million) colour concentration - this is as strong a red as can be achieved legally. We're well aware that a couple of other brands offer a brighter, pillar box red but we've tested them too and they actually exceed the legal PPM limits
saves time and mess compared to mixing your own red Couture icing
Red Couture is slightly softer than White Couture, so for best results keep the icing and your hands cool when working and use only a minimal amount of icing sugar on your rolling pin, modelling board or work top, as adding too much will dry out the sugarpaste and cause cracking
you may find you have to work a little er with it too, as it will dry out sooner than White Couture

made using very special ultra-fine icing sugar and the finest Gum Tragacanth - these luxury ingredients help create the smoothest fondant yet for a flawlessly satin smooth icing that dries to an almost porcelain-like, silky finish

PREPARATION - it is important to knead well before use to activate the gums for best performance - the ultra-fine icing sugar creates a 'dense' paste which, in cooler weather, may feel difficult to knead at first so if you find it a bit hard work you can warm slightly in a microwave (blitz for 10 seconds) prior to kneading
investment in massive state-of-the-art mixers means that we can now achieve excellent consistency between batches, in terms of texture, colour and flavour

*Best Before Date - normally at least 3 months and up to 6 months. Until earlier this year 2019, Couture was produced with a 6 months BBE date but we've carried out extensive testing on stocks made 9-10 months ago and they performed perfectly, so we increased the BBE date to 9 months and we're now testing stock that's 12 months old so BBE dates could be increased further. Nothing at all has changed with the recipe, it is purely the date that has been extended. Happy days!
