The Panzerkampfwagen VI B Tiger II, commonly known as the Königstiger or "King Tiger," was a formidable German heavy tank used during the latter stages of the Second World War. Introduced in 1944, it combined thick armour and a powerful 88mm gun, making it a feared adversary on the battlefield. The tank's frontal armour was nearly impervious to most Allied weapons, and its long-range firepower was exceptional. However, its immense weight made it mechanically unreliable and difficult to manoeuvre. Only around 490 units were produced due to manufacturing complexities and resource shortages. Despite its tactical strength, the Tiger II was often hindered by logistical challenges, and many were lost to mechanical failure rather than enemy fire. It remains an icon of German engineering.
