History.

The Beechcraft T-6C Texan II is a modern turboprop trainer aircraft used by the Royal Air Force to prepare pilots for jet training. Entering RAF service in 2018 as part of the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS), the T-6C replaced the aging Shorts Tucano T1. Manufactured by Textron Aviation, it offers advanced avionics, a digital glass cockpit, and performance characteristics that closely mimic jet aircraft, making it ideal for teaching basic jet skills. Operated from RAF Valley, the T-6C is a key stepping stone for trainee pilots before progressing to the Hawk T2.
