It is recommended to change your gear lube at least once a year, preferably during winterizing. If you operate under normal use, change it after every 100 hours of operation (50 hours for saltwater). The gears in your machinery require protection just as much as the engine. This gear lube has improved emulsifiers that safeguard the gears in case water enters the gear housing. It also has tackifiers that enhance oil film adhesion to gears and internal components, and extra additives protect gears from metal-to-metal contact and excessive wear.
You should use the correct oil for all Mercury and Mariner outboards, Mercury, MerCruiser, and Speedmaster, Johnson/Evinrude outboards, OMC Stern Drive, Cobra, and Volvo Penta SX stern drives, and Suzuki 25hp and larger outboards. High-performance gear lube should be used in stern drive and outboard gear housings. Do not use it in OMC electric gear shift housing, and do not mix it with Quicksilver Premium Gear Lube or any other gear lubricants.
